Country Club Membership Requirements in the Philippines (2026 Guide)

Compare Philippine country club application requirements, endorsements, identity and corporate records, interviews, privacy safeguards and board approval. Includes a downloadable 12-route dataset.

Prepared by the countryclub.ph Research Desk ยท Editorial standards

Country club membership requirements in the Philippines are set by each club, membership route and share class. A typical file may include the club's application form, endorsements from current members, identity and civil-status records, photographs, an interview or screening, and a committee or board decision. Corporate owners and nominees usually need additional company authority and relationship records. Some clubs also require background, employment, financial or local-residency evidence.

Short answer: first ask the club's membership office which current checklist applies to the exact individual, corporate, nominee, assignee or playing-rights route. Build the applicant file separately from the seller's share-transfer and tax file. A complete application only means the club can process it; it does not guarantee election, board approval, share transfer or activation.

This guide compares requirements visible on current official club pages and forms as of July 26, 2026. It is a research starting point, not an application form or a promise that the published list is exhaustive. Requirements, fees and forms can change. Obtain the current, route-specific package directly from the club before collecting sensitive records or paying.

Five files are often confused as one requirement list

A prospective member may hear that a transaction is "complete" when only one workstream is ready. Keep five stages separate so the buyer, seller, applicant and club can identify what remains outstanding.

StageMain questionTypical evidenceWhat it does not prove
Share ownershipWhat interest exists, and who is recorded as owner?Exact issuer and class, original certificate or issuer-recognised ownership record, registered owner and authority. That a proposed buyer or user has been admitted as a member.
Transfer fileCan the interest move from the seller to the buyer?Transfer instrument, seller authority, certificate work, account clearance, tax evidence and club transfer charges. That the applicant satisfies personal or corporate membership requirements.
Applicant fileDoes the proposed member, nominee or assignee have a complete application?Application, endorsements, IDs, photographs, civil or dependant records, and route-specific supporting documents. That the membership committee recommends or the board approves the applicant.
Club decisionHas the authorised club body approved the application?Dated committee, board or membership-office notice identifying the applicant and route. That every fee, recording step or activation condition is finished.
Activation or recordingCan the approved user exercise privileges, and has the issuer updated its records?Membership card or activation notice, paid conditions, replacement certificate, stock-and-transfer-book entry or equivalent club confirmation. That every club uses the same sequence or completion evidence.

The Supreme Court's 2025 Forest Hills decision is a useful warning against collapsing these stages. On the facts and governing documents in that dispute, acquiring a share did not make its holder a member automatically; an application and favourable board action were still required. The decision concerns a particular club and dispute, not a universal admission rule. The practical lesson is to verify the current club documents for the exact class.

Use the country club share transfer-documents guide for the seller, deed, tax and issuer-record work. This page concentrates on the applicant-side membership file.

The seven requirement categories to expect

The official sources reviewed for this guide do not publish one national standard. They do, however, show recurring categories. "Common" does not mean "required everywhere," and an empty item on a public page does not mean the club will never request it.

CategoryExamples in official sourcesVerification questionApplicant control
Current applicationPre-numbered, route-specific, individual, corporate, nominee or playing-rights form.Which version and route apply, and must signatures or originals be notarised?Get the form from the official membership office, not an old listing.
Member supportTwo proprietary-member endorsements, a proposer and seconder, or three member endorsements.Who qualifies to endorse, and must sponsors be in good standing?Do not pay strangers for endorsements or submit invented relationships.
Identity and photosGovernment IDs, passport, specimen signature card, passport-size or 2x2 photographs.Which original or certified copy, how many, and for which applicant or authorised representative?Send only through the club's confirmed channel and keep a submission log.
Civil and dependant recordsMarriage certificate, birth certificates and photographs for eligible dependants.Which family members may be registered, and what age or relationship rule applies?Collect only records needed for the intended privileges.
Background, employment or financeClearances, employment evidence, income-tax return or audited financial statements. Is the item current, route-specific and proportionate to the published application?Ask why it is needed, how it is protected and how long it is retained.
Corporate authoritySEC registration, articles, bylaws, GIS, board resolution, secretary's certificate, business permit or company profile.Who will own, sign and use the membership, and what relationship must the nominee have to the company?Use current certified company records and align every name and authority.
Screening and decisionInterview, pre-screening, posting period, committee recommendation and board approval. When is the file accepted as complete, who decides and what evidence confirms the result?Do not describe an interview or temporary access as final approval.

What six official club sources currently show

The comparison below is deliberately high level. It preserves differences rather than pretending that one club's checklist can be used at another. The downloadable dataset later on this page separates twelve routes and links every observation to its official source.

Club and published routeApplicant-side requirements visible in the sourceScreening or decisionImportant limitation
Valley Golf - proprietary applicantSigned membership application endorsed by two proprietary members; 2x2 photograph; passport and government ID; marriage or dependant birth records where applicable; barangay, police and NBI clearances. Corporate applicants have a separate form plus articles, bylaws and GIS.The public requirement page separates applicant additions from the underlying transfer package. The linked list is labelled 2025; confirm the current form, validity periods and decision calendar.
Valle Verde - regular, corporate and assignee routesApplication endorsed by two proprietary members; IDs, photographs and specimen signature. Regular applicants and assignees may add dependant and civil records. Corporate transfers add GIS, articles, SEC registration and authority to buy and apply. Corporate assignees add appointment and liability authority. All applicants, including playing-rights users and assignees, are interviewed, posted for 30 days and elevated to the board for approval.Transfer and applicant documents appear together; use the correct route and verify current fees.
Eagle Ridge - proprietary transfer or playing rightsCurrent checklists show an application, two original endorsements, IDs or passport, photographs and route-specific records. The playing-rights checklist also identifies employment evidence and a processing fee.The official forms state that incomplete files are not accepted and submission does not guarantee membership approval.Several downloadable checklists exist; match the class, transaction and applicant before collecting documents.
Baguio Country Club - regular, company or local residentRegular applicants publish IDs, photographs, civil records, latest ITR, signatures, proof of proprietary membership and a proposer and seconder. Company applications add incorporation, governance, authority and three years of audited financial statements. The local-resident route adds Baguio or Benguet residency, property or lease and local-tax evidence, plus five character certifications. The page describes election and route-specific payment stages. The official page displays monetary amounts; verify them directly because fees are time-sensitive and may change.
The Orchard - corporate nomineeThe official form identifies a director or bona fide executive employee, signed application, spouse details, photograph, three member endorsements, corporate secretary certificate, employment or company ID, company profile, SEC record, articles and business permit.Pre-screening and interview precede temporary membership after fees; permanent membership remains subject to final board approval. The comparison covers the published corporate-nominee form, not every Orchard class or route.
Makati Sports Club - published overviewThe public page describes invitation and member sponsorship and identifies individual, corporate, life, courtesy and associate membership types.Membership Committee and board approval are described. The public overview does not publish a complete application checklist. Contact the official membership office for the current route-specific form.

These examples show why a generic folder called "country club requirements" is unsafe. Valley Golf publishes background clearances for an individual proprietary applicant; Baguio publishes financial and residency evidence for particular routes; The Orchard's corporate nominee must have a qualifying company relationship; Valle Verde publicly describes interview, posting and board stages. None of those details should be silently copied to a different club.

Choose the membership route before collecting documents

The route determines whose identity, authority and relationship the club must examine. Asking only whether a club accepts "corporate membership" is not enough.

RoutePerson or entity being assessedAdditional evidence commonly at issueQuestion that prevents the wrong application
Individual proprietaryThe natural person buying or receiving the interest and applying for membership.Personal application, member endorsements, identity, civil or dependant records and club-specific background evidence. Will the applicant be both registered owner and approved member?
Corporate proprietaryThe juridical entity acquiring the share, its authorised signatory and the proposed user.SEC and governance records, authority to acquire and apply, beneficial-owner or control information when lawfully required, and nominee relationship.Which entity owns the share, and who may exercise membership privileges?
Corporate nominee or assigneeThe natural person designated under a corporate membership.Board or secretary authority, employment or office relationship, IDs, application, endorsements and possible nominee-change fee.Must the user be a director, officer, employee, stockholder or another defined person?
Regular assigneeA person receiving privileges from an individual proprietary member for a defined term.Deed of assignment, assignor's share evidence, annual processing or admission charges and personal application records. Is ownership moving, or are only time-limited privileges being assigned?
Playing rightsThe approved user of a temporary access arrangement.Term, application, endorsements, identity, employment evidence, fee and owner authority.Who retains the underlying share, and what happens when the term ends?
Local resident or special classAn applicant claiming eligibility under location, profession, age or another class rule.Residence, property, lease, tax, employment or other eligibility evidence plus the standard personal file. What exact fact creates eligibility, and for how long must it have existed?

A share sale and a nominee change can also have different tax and beneficial-ownership consequences. Use the nominee and beneficial-ownership guide before describing a corporate route. Use the share-versus-playing-rights guide when the proposed user needs access but does not need to acquire the underlying interest.

Complete does not mean approved

Application completeness is an administrative gate. Approval is a discretionary or governance decision under the applicable club documents. Eagle Ridge's published language makes the distinction unusually clear: incomplete requirements are not accepted, and submission does not guarantee approval. Valle Verde schedules the interview after requirements are complete, then describes a 30-day posting, committee recommendation and board approval.

Record at least four dated events:

  1. Checklist confirmation: the membership office identifies the exact current form and route.
  2. Submission acknowledgement: the authorised recipient confirms which items were received.
  3. Complete-file notice: the club confirms that the application can enter screening or decision processing.
  4. Decision and remaining conditions: the club states whether the applicant is approved, deferred or denied and what activation or recording work remains.

A broker, seller, sponsor or applicant should not convert "submitted," "for interview," "recommended," "temporarily admitted" or "on the agenda" into "approved." If the club defers or rejects the application, follow the board-approval and rejection guide to separate incomplete, deferred and final outcomes and to apply the written deposit terms.

Handle identity and financial records as a controlled submission

Official application lists can include passports, government IDs, signatures, civil records, tax returns, background clearances and company financial statements. Those are not ordinary listing attachments. Do not upload them to a public marketplace profile, email them to an unverified intermediary or place full values in a browser note.

The Data Privacy Act requires personal information processing to follow transparency, legitimate purpose and proportionality. Its implementing rules also frame data collection as adequate and not excessive for the declared purpose. The National Privacy Commission explains rights that include being informed, access, correction, blocking or erasure in appropriate cases, objection and complaint. The precise application of those rights depends on the processing and law; this guide is not a privacy-law opinion.

Confirm purpose and scopeAsk which route requires each sensitive item and whether an original, certified copy or inspection is needed.Current checklist and any written clarification.
Minimise duplicationDo not send the same passport, ITR or company file to every person involved in the transaction. One controlled submission log showing document, recipient and date.
Protect transmissionUse the club's designated secure method. Avoid open links, public folders and group chats.Acknowledgement without reproducing sensitive values.
Ask about retentionReview the privacy notice and ask how unsuccessful or withdrawn application records are retained, returned or disposed of.Applicable privacy notice and response date.
Limit marketplace dataUse non-sensitive status labels such as "ID submitted to club on date" rather than storing the ID image or number.Redacted checklist status, not the underlying sensitive record.

Countryclub.ph does not need a prospective buyer's passport, bank statement, tax return, police or NBI clearance, specimen signature or civil certificate to create a buyer profile. Submit sensitive application material only to the club or a specifically authorised professional through a verified process.

A seven-step membership application workflow

  1. Define the route and intended users. Identify whether the interest is individual, corporate, nominee-based, assigned or temporary. List the spouse, dependants or corporate user only if their privileges matter.
  2. Verify the exact interest. Confirm the issuing entity, class, registered owner, transferability and seller authority. Do not start a personal application for a share that is not ready or eligible to move.
  3. Obtain the current official package. Ask the membership office for the dated checklist, application, privacy notice, fee schedule, sponsor rules, interview process and decision calendar for that route.
  4. Build separate applicant and transaction indexes. Keep personal and corporate membership records apart from seller clearance, deed, tax and certificate items. Name the responsible person and expiry date for every requirement.
  5. Verify endorsements and corporate relationships. Confirm that sponsors meet the club's standing rule and that the corporate nominee actually satisfies the published director, officer, employee, stockholder or other relationship test.
  6. Submit through the confirmed channel. Preserve a dated, non-sensitive inventory and request acknowledgement. Cure only deficiencies identified by the authorised club office.
  7. Track decision, activation and closing separately. Attend interviews, observe posting or meeting periods, obtain written status and release transaction funds only under professionally reviewed conditions tied to the agreed evidence.

Download the 12-route requirements dataset

The Philippine country club membership requirements comparison (CSV) records twelve published routes across six clubs. Each row includes the evidence date, official source, applicant categories, decision stage and limitation. The dataset uses "not stated on source page" when the public source does not answer a field; it does not convert silence into a "no."

Use it to form an evidence request, not to submit an application. Refresh the source before relying on any field, because an official club may replace a form or change its process after the snapshot date.

Questions to ask the membership office

  • Which current checklist applies to this exact class and applicant route?
  • Is ownership being transferred, or are only nominee, assignee or playing rights changing?
  • How many sponsors or endorsers are required, and who qualifies?
  • Which identity, civil, background, employment, finance or company records are required now?
  • Must any document be original, certified, notarised or recently issued?
  • How are spouse and dependant privileges defined?
  • When is the file formally accepted as complete?
  • Are interview, pre-screening, posting, committee and board stages separate?
  • What current fee is due at application, approval, activation or transfer?
  • Which payments are refundable if the file is withdrawn, deferred or denied?
  • How will sensitive records be transmitted, accessed, retained and disposed of?
  • What dated evidence confirms approval and final activation?

A strong membership file is current, route-specific, privacy-controlled and honest about its status. It does not need extra documents collected "just in case," and it does not treat a complete application as a guaranteed result. When the route and shortlist are ready for verification, create a privacy-safe buyer profile without uploading sensitive application records.

Frequently asked questions

What are the usual country club membership requirements in the Philippines?

Common categories include the club application, endorsements from current members, government identification, photographs, civil or dependant records, route-specific corporate or employment evidence, an interview or screening, and committee or board approval. The exact requirements depend on the club and membership route.

Do I need a sponsor to join a Philippine country club?

Many published club routes require endorsements, a proposer and seconder, or member sponsorship, but there is no single national rule. Ask the club who qualifies, how many are required and whether endorsers must be in good standing.

Does buying a country club share automatically make me a member?

Not necessarily. Share ownership, transfer recording, membership application, board approval and activation can be separate events. Obtain the current governing documents and club-issued evidence for each stage.

What does a corporate country club applicant need?

Published requirements can include SEC registration, articles, bylaws, GIS, a board resolution or secretary certificate, company profile, business permit, financial statements and proof that the proposed nominee has the required relationship to the company. The exact list varies by club and route.

Does a complete membership application guarantee approval?

No. Completeness normally means the file can proceed to screening or decision. Official club sources may still require interview, posting, committee review and final board approval, and some expressly state that submission does not guarantee approval.

Should I send my passport, tax return or NBI clearance to a broker?

Do not send sensitive records to an unverified recipient or public marketplace. Confirm the exact requirement and authorised submission channel with the club, review its privacy notice and keep only a non-sensitive submission log outside the official process.
