Start with your expected term
If you may relocate or only need access for one or two years, a defined playing-rights term can reduce exit risk. If you expect long-term use and accept the responsibilities of ownership, a verified share may fit better.
Compare total—not advertised—cost
For buying, include acquisition price, transfer and admission fees, taxes or professional costs, dues, assessments and eventual resale costs. For leasing, include rent, assignment or application fees, dues, deposits and any early-termination exposure.
Compare control and flexibility
A shareowner can decide when to hold or offer the interest, subject to club rules. An assignee depends on the owner’s authority, the agreement term and the club’s approval. A corporate share can add nominee flexibility, but fees and eligibility conditions may apply.

- Which exact privileges and users are included?
- Who pays monthly dues, assessments and minimum spending?
- What club approval is required?
- What happens if approval is denied or privileges are suspended?
- Can the arrangement end early, and how is the deposit handled?
- Which current club document confirms the arrangement is permitted?
A simple decision rule
Do not buy only because ownership sounds prestigious, and do not lease only because the upfront amount is lower. Compare the verified rights and total cost over the period you realistically expect to use the club. Then assess exit flexibility and approval risk.
